Alexis From Texas

Alexis Ware was born on September 24, 1967, in Victoria, Texas.  She comes from a family that consists of 4 girls, 3 boys, her mom, and step faher.  At an early age it became obvious that Alexis was athletically inclined, and it wasn't before long that basketbal surfaced as her favorite sport.  She graduated from Victoria High School in 1986 and attended Texas Tech University on a full athletic scholarship.  According to Alexis, the game of basketball is a lot like life.  It takes strategy, support, team work, leadership and the ability to know when to follow to be successful.  Most importantly, basketball taught Alexis to know her limits...a skill she lacked in her adolesence.  Alexis grew to understand the need for boundaries and the freedoms that they provide.  Now she speaks these lessons to students all over Faulkner and Pulaski county changing lives along the way.

Facts About Alexis as a Healthy Choice Educator:

  • Alexis Ware has shared her testimony of sexual purity for over 14 years though the Excel program in Conway and the STEP Abstinence Program in North Little Rock.
  • Alexis shares personal experiences, involves students with her on stage, and delivers visible presentations to spark change in students to take charge of their own purity...no matter what their prior choices have been.
  • She inspires young people (both male and female) to consider their choice and choose the best.
  • Alexis was a successful speaker long before she came aboard as an Excel Healthy Choices Educator.  She has shared her message nationally and internationally through Athletes in Action, (the athletic ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ).  She has also served as Director of Kids Across America (an intter-city Christian camp) near Branson, Missouri.
  • Tens of thousands of students have been touched and influenced by Alexis' message.

Mentoring Children of Incarcerated Parents is at the forefront of our focus.

C2E's mentoring program has grown since the beginning, nearly 20 years ago. Students and youth are identified in our community and referred by school officials, non-profit organizations, and even the incarcerated parents in central Arkansas.  Each student is matched with a trained and certified mentor skilled in dealing with these unique needs.  Mentors meet with their mentees at least once a week for a year committment.
