"Thank you for this opportunity..."

I just met with my mentee for the last time this school year.  She is such a wonderful person, and I remember when I first met her.  She was so shy and would answer my questions with one word.  Since we've started meeting, I have seen her gain lots of confidence in herself.  When we first met, I asked her why her homework grades wer so low and she informed me that she didn't remember the assignements when she got home.  I got her a calendar big enough to write everything she had to do in the day.  Today she showed me how she's been using it!  She is keeping up with her classes now and her grades have improved as a result.  All she needed was a little encouragement to get her motivated to do better!  Thank you so much for asking me to do this service.  When we work with kids it makes us reevaluate ourselves and what we say...such a blessing.  I hope I am able to do this again next school year!  Thank you again for giving me the opportunity to take the focus off of myself and help someone else!

Mentoring Children of Incarcerated Parents is at the forefront of our focus.

C2E's mentoring program has grown since the beginning, nearly 20 years ago. Students and youth are identified in our community and referred by school officials, non-profit organizations, and even the incarcerated parents in central Arkansas.  Each student is matched with a trained and certified mentor skilled in dealing with these unique needs.  Mentors meet with their mentees at least once a week for a year committment.
